Boil in armpit: This can be caused by an infected hair follicle or cyst.  A more worrisome cause is hidradenitis suppurativa, where recurrent boils form in the armpit and groin areas.  Watch the boil carefully and keep skin clean and dry.  If the boil bursts and pus comes out, it may heal on its own.  If it gets larger and more painful, a Dr, needs to check it.  Don't lance it yourself; it could get worse.

Not many choices: When a person says I have an armpit boil, she usually means something 10mm or wider... which we recommend be examined by a doctor (may need to be opened up). However, a "boil" means different things to different people. For example, facial pimples are similar to tiny armpit boils... which means acne medicine like Benzoyl Peroxide may work on a few 1mm-5mm sized armpit pimples.

Possible reinfection: For several reasons, the commonest would be staph colonization, abnormal blood sugar, etc.. you need to see your doctor for re-evaluation, meanwhile, using antiseptic soap, cutting finger nails short, skin care etc.. would help, good luck

A : A new lump in that area could be due to many things. It can be an inflamed cyst, ingrown hair or boil, or inflamed lymph node. If the lump is not enlarging, non-tender and you do not have fever and other symptoms you can monitor it at home. You can try warm towel compresses for 15 minutes several times a day. If it enlarges, becomes painful, or you become feverish, you should see a physician. If the lump does not resolve in a week, you should visit physician for evaluation and treatment. Take care, .

Needs to be drained.: Probably an infected sweat gland or ruptured epidermal cyst. Needs to be examined, and probably drained, which will solve the problem and stop the pain. See your doctor or a dermatologist.

Hidradenitis suppurativa: You may have hidradenitis suppurativa.  This is a chronic infection affecting the apocrine sweat glands.  Apocrine glands are found in the armpits, breasts, and gluteal region.  Each of the regions can be affected by hidradenitis.  It may require chronic suppressive antibiotics.  If these fail to resolve the infection, the glands may require surgical removal.  Hope this helps
