Boil in armpit: This can be caused by an infected hair follicle or cyst. A more worrisome cause is hidradenitis suppurativa, where recurrent boils form in the armpit and groin areas. Watch the boil carefully and keep skin clean and dry. If the boil bursts and pus comes out, it may heal on its own. If it gets larger and more painful, a Dr, needs to check it. Don't lance it yourself; it could get worse.

Various: Boils are usually caused by skin bacteria that multiple out of control, creating an abscess or boil. Surgical drainage and antibiotics may be needed. Warm compresses and acetaminophen or ibuprofen can ease the symptoms in the meanwhile. Not all lumps in the armpit are boils. Blocked sweat glands & swollen lymph nodes can also cause noticeable lumps in the armpit and may resolve on their own.
