Hypothyroid&infectio: High white blood cel count in a patient with low IgA level would suggest very srongly infection in some part of body, like respiratory, digestive or genitourinary systems.With pain in left flank may have infection in that area of body and she needs to be treated for this asap
high TSH with normal t3&t4 suggest subclinical hypothyroidism and may or may not treatment depending on level of tsh.

what do you suggest if my thyroid tested. the results were high tsh but normal t3 (liothyronine) and t4. i also didn't test for antibodies. what could cause this?

High TSH: This suggests the thyroid is in the early stages of "failing". T4/T3 has not fallen, yet, but the pituitary TSH is working harder to stimulate the thyroid. First, repeat the TSH to make sure not lab error.  Do you have hypothyroid symptoms? The cause is probably Hashimotos, even if abs negative. Talk to your doc about whether or not you need to start levothyroxine.

i have hypothyroidism. elevated tsh. normal t3 and t4. antibody test was negative. endocrinologist still refers to it as hashimotos and says that's "most likely" the cause. why would that be if i have no antibodies?

: There are several antibody tests than can be done.  You did not me mention which ones were tested10% May have no antibodies.  Discuss with your Dr and you may wish to look at Uptodate.com for more Details. But will cost you $20 for a months access. Nothing is 100% in medicine except dying.  ;-). Dr humor!

: How high? All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, an elevated T4 in the face of normal TSH and T3 is not a cause for concern. Your doctor may wish to test for Free T4. Get level checked,,: This sounds like symptoms of hyperthyroidism (weight loss, anxiety) your TSH may be high and free t3 (liothyronine) T4 normal, but it may be somewhat high for you so you might need to get your meds adjusted after another check of your thyroid levels (tsh is usually attempted to be kept at around 3.0 miu/l in hashimoto's). The nodules: need to be evaluated by exam and ultrasound plus lab. Thyroid biopsy may be indicated. Wait to see what the endo says about your thyroid.

Thyroid tests result: If you have normal output of thyroid hormone (T3,T4) from your thyroid gland then the level of the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) should be low, which it is! I'm not sure why your doc ran a thyroid uptake test because you say you have normal thyroid hormone output. Ask the doc for the reason for doing a test. It should always be a good reason that you should understand.

Facial nerve: Any structure that affects the facial nerve along its course from the brain can cause a droop. Pituitary tumor can cause droop in eye, visual changes etc. Its anatomical and the facial nerve has several branches,temporal, zygomatic, buccal,maxillary and mandibular.Good luck. Stroke, Hemifacial spasm and bells palsy other alternative possibilities.

F/u with your Dr: Asymptomatic patients with an elevated TSH, but normal thyroxine levels, are referred to as having Subacute or Subclinical hypothyroidism.  There are varying recs as to whether they should be treated, especially if no symptoms.  I suggest f/u with your Dr to repeat tests in 3-6 months with thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPO), to determine if persistent and risk for developing overt hypothyroidism.
