See your doctor.: First, ask your doctor. A repeat test may help. If truly elevated, the A/G ratio may be the result of underproduction of immunoglobulins (Igs), or less likely, elevated albumin. More tests, such as liver function tests and serum protein electrophoresis, may be needed to determine the cause (which can range from benign to serious). These can be ordered by your doctor as appropriate. Best wishes!

: Seeing the actual numbers would be more helpful, but every now and then I've encountered this ratio but never got any good reason for a normal albumin with a low globulin.  Malnutrition is the only reason I've read about that may cause the low globulin. As long as you have normal liver function labs otherwise and no hematology disorders, I'd disregard the low globulin. Low albumin is more serious

Haptoglobin: Are you sure you got the units right? Normal levels are around 40-170 mg per deciliter. If I convert your units you are 0.25 mg/dl. Extremely low  and very unlikely. Various hemolytic anemias can cause low levels.

High albumin: Have your Albumin rechecked. Dehydration can affect Albumin level by increasing it. Other causes could be tuberculosis, hepatitis and hiv. It can also be seen in congestive heart failure, glucocorticoid excess and congenital disorders. Speak to the physician who ordered the test for more information if you are the patient.

You're fine: Reference ranges for common labs are set so that several percent of healthy people fall outside. You may have been a bit dehydrated, or just in good health.

is it unusual to have a low protein total (5.9) and a high a/g ratio (2.7) when i'm in my 30's?

Need values: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, you may have low gamma globulins and should discuss it with your doctor to ensure that you are not in a deficient state of immunity.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

when the body is healing from an injury (e.g., large scrapes on the body from falling on pavement at high speeds) should the body be more tired than usual? if so, why is that the case?

Tired: As a result of your massive scrapes your body may be more tired because of the trauma but also your body may be fighting off infection.

my fibrinogen is repeatedly 6 g/l. none of the other tests or inflammation markers are abnormal. what is most likely cause of stand alone high fibrinogen levels? what can i do to treat? thank you?

: I am not sure why the blood test was done, meaning inadequate information, however it is best not to treat laboratory value if you are well and no inflammatory marker of significance. Fibrinogen is a clotting factor not a disease protein why do you want to treat isolated elevated fibrinogen? Do you have abnormal menstrual flow may be what you could look at as a possible explanation.

since a routine bp check 4 days ago which showed high readings (despite me taking medication daily), i have taken my bp several times a day. the readings remain above 140/90, e.g. this morning 147/95. i use prexum 5. any advice?

Dosage change: If you are already adjusting your diet to lose weight, exercising( at least walking daily) and have decreased salt, then increasing your dosage of medication would be a next step. Continue to monitor your blood pressure, it is amazing how a few adjustments to your life style can improve things in your health.
