i would not worry to much .They tend to be careful and conservative with radiation exposure in children . Would put her in the mild category .(see heart section)  don't worry it is a one time thing not daily

The radiation: Dose you likely received would cause a theoretical increased risk that is roughly equivalent to the radiation risk of about a 30 minute airline flight, so essentially the risk is nonexistent in a practical sense.

having spect, scintigraphy, hrct and normal ct of thorax in next few months. had same 2 years ago. how high & dangerous is this dose of radiation?

Depends reason: CT and scintigraphy all utilize considerable ionizing radiation. It depends on number and frequency of tests.Most important is reason for test. In other words if it necessary to prolong  or save life then the radiation is inconsequential. If tests not making difference in quality of life, decision less strategic.Radiation effects in young individuals with potential for growth are greater.

i am trying to find out if a sinus ct scan has a radiation dose that is low or high? i was told by the radiologist that it would be 500 mgycm per centimeter.  is this low or high? i am trying not to get much radiation due to other ct scans ive had.

Sinus CT: A limited sinuses CT study would have the same radiation dose as a plain x-ray for the sinuses. You may want to give the radiologist your complete history of the CT studies you had and the timing, the radiologist woyld be able to advise you better then on whether to pursue the study or not, and suggest an alternati6, best wishes

a doctor ordered a full-body ct scan for unintended weight loss. he admitted that a radiation dose is very high. ive already had over 10 ct scans within 2 years. am i at high risk for developing radiaton-induced cancer (breast, thyroid ect)?

: I would be more worried about the unintended weight loss than the radiation from a CT scan. Then again, why have you needed 10 CT scans over a 2-year period?  That's certainly unusual. Is there any possibility of doing an MRI scan instead, which does not involve radiation?

Not too high: I consider that a reasonable dose - even up to 200 mg per day.

Discuss w/ Dr: For starting, that's higher than usual in one dose - but definitely and always discuss such things w/ the Dr prescribing. That is a must for all Rx's but especially for psychotropics. Call to ask and be sure to tell them ALL other things you take - daily or sometimes incl OTCs. It's very important to do this. Best!

is 50mg of hydroxyzine pam considered a high dose for one pill?

Depends: The basic principle in medicine is to give the lowest dose needed to achieve the objective. Some people can take 100mg of  hydroxyzine without problem , others just 10 mg would knock them out.  Usually the drowsiness effects tend to decline with time.  I prefer to start patient on 10 mg first then work it up over a week until the desired effect has been reached without causing side effects .
