No: Esomeprazole, or Nexium (esomeprazole) as a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) normally prescribed at 40 mg, one capsule by mouth daily with meals in the prescription dose. For patient's with reflux esophagitis, refractory to once a day Nexium (esomeprazole), the dose may be increased to 40 mg, one capsule by mouth twice daily.  However, PPI can interact with anticoagulant, such Plavix (Clopidogrel) through CPY2C19 in the body.

i was given pump inhibitor omperazole for  6mth high dose. then had a endoscope which said i have chronic gastritis. (with no risk factors), why?

HMM: Gastritis means that you have an irritation of the stomach wall...This is not that uncommon. I would suggest that you follow up with your gastroenterologist and follow his advice re the appropriate treatment of this usually  moderately benign condition.

i took ppis for chronic gastritis for a very long time and stopped about 4 months ago as symptoms were not there any more. lately, i noticed that i burp a lot all day long. could this be linked to chronic gastritis that i had?

: Burping suggests you may be swallowing air. Keep a Diary of what effects it and share with your Drs and you all can figure it out. Go to drugs.com and read about what a longtime taking PPIs can do to you.  Consider elevating head of bed feet 8 inches might help. Gravity never sleeps.

how come my mild gastritis won't heal if i don't have bacteria no nsaid, on bland diet, taking carafate (sucralfate) ppis??? 3 months in pain.

No longer mild: The pain pattern is critical in establishing the diagnosis, before or after meals, periods of high stress, etc. How was your diagnosis made? In case you did not have an upper endoscopy, you might need one. Would recommend that you keep a log with the  type of food/ drinks that you ingest and the timing/character of your pain and bring it to your follow-up visit.

what could cause mild gastritis not to heal w/ use of ppis? no hiv, normal ct scan, colonoscopy, blood& stool tests. upper endoscopy(gerd/gastritis)

Gastritis: Given your story this can be an infection, a reaction to medication or alcohol. A stomach that is not fully healed due to gastritis may not heal well even on ppis if one continues to drink alcohol or to take toxic medications.

: It depends on the cause, chronicity, and severity of the condition. If it is due to H pylori infection, most regimens last 14 days. 14d heals most mild cases. If there is an ulceration, folks will treat for 6-8 weeks; There are a lot of other variables to consider but that usually heals most cases.

No: Those are medication to prevent gastritis, if u r still having symptoms it could be u r not uncontrolled with those ppi or it could be more serious like an ulcer, a bleed, an infection, etc.  if u haven't seen ur doctor for it, I suggest u do

i have gastritis, i t0ok antacid (kremil-s) and stil hurts. how much time do i have to wait to take my prescribed ppi (prevacid (lansoprazole) fdt) ?

No waiting: The ppi takes a week or two to build up in your system and work effectively. It won't work immediately like an an-acid does. Try a different an-acid like Pepcid ac or Zantac until the Protonix (pantoprazole) kicks is.

egd showed moderately severe gastritis and duodenitis with erosions.biopsies negative for h.p. been taking ppis for 2 weeks and added carafate last friday. still get acid taste in mouth, even on empty stomach. how long does it take to heal stomach?

: More details are needed to address your health specifically. In general, the stomach needs a month to health, then again if the irritant continues, smoking, alcohol, ibuprofen, sleep apnea, late-night eating then the healing slows down, like putting salt on a wound.

is it okay to take ppi and betaine hcl at the same time? i've been taking ppi for two month b/c of gerd and taking betaine hcl while i am having a meal. i am not sure if i can continue to take them both for a long time. also i have a mild gastritis?

Betatine : Betatine is thought to raise stomach acid , while a ppi is used to lower stomach acid. So, they do the opposite. Gastritis is often treated with ppi to allow the lining to heal by lowering the acidity.  A good question is why do you have gastritis. I will venture to guess you may be taking other supplements prior to this irritating your stomach. See your doctor.
