Not "cause": In reality we do not KNOW the true cause of high blood pressure. We do know many things that will drive it up in a predisposed individual. Considering about 30% of population has HTN, it is fairly common. Smoking and/or any act that stresses the body or mind can drive BP up in someone wo already has HTN or is genetically "ripe" to develop  HTN

The 90 is ...: Normal blood pressure is 120/80 mm Hg or less. When your diastolic (the bottom number indicating the pressure when your heart is momentarily resting) approaches 90, you are moving into high blood pressure. While we do expect blood pressure to rise as we age, normal targets are only adjusted for the elderly. It should be controllable with lifestyle: normal weight, reg exercise, watch salt/alcohol.

Blood Pressure: There are multiple alternatives to this. They are affected by a number of factors such as heart rate, kidney function, cardiac risk factors, leg swelling etc. They include adding another medication such as amlodipine, hydrochlorothiazide, ace inhibitors, arb's, or even just increasing the toprol (metoprolol) dose. Talk to your doctor about this.

i have had a high temp of 100.4 that comes and goes for three weeks now. what could cause this. i feel perfectly normal ? i should add i have had untreated high blood pressure for about 1year

100.4 is not high: 100.4 is the bare minimum for fever. I would start by seeing your doctor and getting your blood pressure under control. While you are doing this, you can tell him/her about your symptoms. Make sure your thermometer is reading accurately.

: No, your hypertension is controlled, not "cured".  But as long as your medicine works, and stabilizes your hypertension, you should work with your doctor and not miss your medication.

How do you feel: Before going to over crowded  ER  (  mostly due to need less visits burden the over already  worked E R staff who do not take care of themselves with preventive measures  )  Call your doctor first , if unavailable , yes you need urgent help to bring it down  &amp; avoid complications , then follow up with your medications

NO: No,  if you are giving me the systolic ( top number) blood pressure range 100-140. 
140 is borderline and you should watch it closely with low salt diet, decreasing weight and exercise.Thanks.

i have high blood pressure from 1 month 150/100 i take met xl 25 mg at afternoon and propranolol 20 mg at night around 11 pm blood pressure from past 15 days is around 115/75 at night and 105/65 at day can i reduce the dose?

: Any adjustment to the antihypertensive medications you are taking should be discussed with the physician who treated you with those medications.
