When should you go to emergency room for high blood pressure? i have a reading of 170/100 right now.

How do you feel: Before going to over crowded ER ( mostly due to need less visits burden the over already worked E R staff who do not take care of themselves with preventive measures ) Call your doctor first , if unavailable , yes you need urgent help to bring it down & avoid complications , then follow up with your medications

Blood pressure: If you had headache, dizziness or shortness of breath or chest pain with BP 170/100 going to the ER is appropriate. If no symptoms, then ER is usually not needed
