The 90 is ...: Normal blood pressure is 120/80 mm Hg or less. When your diastolic (the bottom number indicating the pressure when your heart is momentarily resting) approaches 90, you are moving into high blood pressure. While we do expect blood pressure to rise as we age, normal targets are only adjusted for the elderly. It should be controllable with lifestyle: normal weight, reg exercise, watch salt/alcohol.
