i just had shoulder surgery a week ago and i have 6 large welts on my upper arm and pain and swelling  in my elbow and under my arm. is this anything.

Yes.: Get it checked out by your orthopedic surgeon.  This might be a sign of infection that requires treatment (antibiotics).  It could be an allergic reaction as well.  Definitely, play it safe and have it evaluated.

i still have finger and hand swelling after hand surgery. is this normal?

Accepted Answer

Can be: Some swelling after an injury or surgery is common. It is however important to control the swelling which will help with movement of the fingers. Elevation icing and the motion can be used. If this does not help therapists can sometimes be needed to help with the swelling.

is swelling in the feet common a day after shoulder surgery in a healthy individal?

Accepted Answer

Probably: Most likely yes.  After a surgical procedure - especially requiring anesthesia (being put to sleep) - the IV fluids that are given are not quite in the right compartment of the body yet. Therefore, some swelling can be normal.  Massive swelling that is asymmetric (is your other leg swollen?) can be a problem after surgery.  Blood clots can occur in certain individuals that are post - operative.

Yes: Elevate high (statue of liberty) and use ice. Swelling is more common after open surgery than the newer endoscopic techniques.

Numbness : Numbness and tingling of the extremities are typically seen in peripheral neuropathies. Swelling is a typical symptoms of inflammation.  Any history of trauma or rheumatic disease? For a better orientation you need to provide more details!
i think the best option at this point is to go talk to your pcp or your family physician.

after microscopic shoulder surgery now by left hand all puffy. and my arm still hurting. what should i do?

Call your surgeon: I recommend calling the surgeon who did the surgery and let them know. They will direct you to what to do and get you in for re-evaluation if needed. Good luck.

i had shoulder surgery about 2 weeks ago and this morning i woke up and my wrist was blue and then it when away but now my hand is going blue.

You should: contact the surgeon who did your surgery! Not knowing what kind of surgery you had I am unable to comment except to say ..it's NOT a "NORMAL" post surgical event!
A visit to an Urgent Care Center or ER is not a bad idea!

been in a sling for a couple days, just had shoulder surgery.. my hand is really cold but not blue what is causing this? and should i be worried ?

Call the surgeon: You should call your surgeon as soon as possible if your are at all concerned.

when someone has a mammogram is the arm and hand suppose to get numb why the test is preformed? i had a inter scalene nerve block shoulder surgery

Accepted Answer

That is different: . 
Prolonged numbness should be evaluated.
If you had interscalene block for shoulder surgery there could be very rare complications because of the procedure. Persistent numbness or even paralysis could happen and careful evaluation and an MRI of the cervical spine can rule it out. Dislocated shoulder can do it also.  Surgical manipulation also. Most of the time it recovers. So relax.

Yes: After shoulder surgery, any swelling that occurs will typically travel down and down and down. It ends up around the elbow and the wrist. Because of this, the outside of the elbow and top of wrist both often hurt after shoulder procedures such as shoulder arthroscopy or shoulder replacement.
