Location, location: The location of the fracture is important.  If the fracture involves the growth plates of the bone, growth may be affected.  The more severe the injury is to the growth plate, the more likely a problem will occur.  In other locations of the femur, growth problems are less likely.  Close monitoring will be required with xrays to determine if there might be a problem.

This means nothing: White blood cell percentages fluctuate wildly from day to day and even hour to hour. This means nothing and I often wish labs wouldn't even report these. Only if the absolute counts go very far from the reference range are they worth paying attention to. THe only real question is whether to proceed with the workup of the bone lesion. Good luck.

i have been in an external fixator for a nonunion fracture of the distal shaft of my tibia for 8 months. i had a bone graft from my own femur end, but after 8 months the nonunion graft shows 
no new bone growth. what's next?

: Assume you had bone around fracture that has not United by this description, and were placed on calcium, vit D mixture . There are implantable bone stimulators to consider, but please see a an endocrinologist to determine if you need bone stimulating hormones or treatment for osteoporosis. Good luck

Possibly: In theory, since the femur is thick and strong, it can withstand more force than smaller, "weaker" bones; however, there's really no way to predict if a certain fall would have resulted in a broken bone since there are many other factors to consider.

Femur fracture: Most femur fractures in adults are managed withsurgical repair. Most often, for fractures in the shaft of the bone, an im rod is inserted. For fractures above or extending into the knee, special plates and screws are used.

2-3mo: The femur can take anywhere from 6 wks to 3mo to heal.  It tends to heal however as it is fully encompassed by thick vascular muscle layer and blood=healing.  Most femur fractures do require surgery to stabilized and heal.

No,but...: If you have pain there may be something you can do about that though.  a spur is just where bone material (basically calcium) has extended into ligaments, the softer material that connects bone to bone or other structures,  But it's usually brought about by painful conditions and some of them can be treated and you could feel and do better even if the xray stays the same.

Unlikely: This is a problem that necessitates a face-to-face meeting with your doctor.  This will allow him/her to examine you, ask specific questions. And possibly order tests to find out what's wrong and what to do to help you.

getting rod out of femur how weak will the bone be? can you put weight on it? how long to fill in bone? i'm 56 years old.

Potentially none: A rod is placed in the bone canal to stabilize the fracture an allow healing. If there are no screws placed in the rod to "lock" it then the bone should not be weakened when it is removed.
