i've got a bad pulled groin going all down back of thigh.huge bruise its been bad for 4wks and feels lumpy and feels like an extra bone in groin?

See doc xray: See an orthopedic doctor who will probably at least take an x-ray +- mri. There is a chance that you pulled off a piece of bone from your pelvic bone. Otherwise it is just scar tissue.

Torn adductor/ham: With this type of injury and bruising, I often think first of a partial tear of the groin/adductor or hamstring tendons or muscles. It would be wise to try and get a definitive diagnosis and receive a plan for rehab, recovery time and return-to-play recommendations. It may take several months to heal. GROIN INJURY: Sounds like a strain (tendon injury); likely near the muscle insertion into the bone (typically where the tendon fibers are thinnest). Hip: This may be a hip problem, you need to call your doctor and have some xrays to see what is going on.

No doc needed: Sounds like significant muscle injury. Use crutches if necessary to rest and walk normally. Ice for 72hours then heat/ice.  Light stretching. Tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain 72 hours then advil/aleve.  Compression short. Should begin therapy to strengthen muscles when pain free.  Progress through jogging, sprinting, cutting prior to sports return.

Ice, rest, rehab: Treatment usually involves icing the injury, pain control  rest from athletic competition and gradual rehab with stretching and graded activity.

Accepted Answer

Groin hernia pain: Hernias usually do not hurt bad unless they incarcerate or strangulate. They usually cause pressure symptoms or discomfort  or no symptoms at all.
Your pain is most likely from a ligament injury or groin muscles  tear/ stretch,  and  this symptoms  may persist for a few weeks.
A hip problem  can also cause groin pain that does not go away..
Physical rest is  the best therapy for now.

Resting up: Rest is important, prevent overstraining.
Ice packs or heat packs may alternately work.
Antiinflammatory medications like Ibuprofen may also help with the pain.

Orthopedic surgeon: Groin pull may be muscles, or ligament, but if require surgery you may need an orthopedic surgeon.

Different: A groin pull is a kind of generic catch all term that is not specific and can be any one of a number of things.  It can be a pulled muscle, strained tendon or a ligament sprain.  A hernia is a weak place in a muscle that allows something else (often intestine) to push out through the weakness.  The appearance of the two would be very different on mri.
