Ice, rest, rehab: Treatment usually involves icing the injury, pain control rest from athletic competition and gradual rehab with stretching and graded activity.

Rest, ice, NSAIDs: Groin pulls can be stubborn, and thus, slow to heal. A pull truly involves at least partial tearing of the muscle fibers. Recovery can range from 1-2 weeks for minor injuries to up to a year for severe injuries. One key is to avoid stretching the injured tissue. The tightness sensation felt after a "pull" does not mean the tissue needs stretching. Recovery from a pull includes more strengthening.
