can you get genital warts on inner thigh? my hcp and gyn said the bumps on my inner thigh were warts. could i have gotten them there from sex?

Possible: Most are due to infection with human papilloma virus (HPV). There are many strains of the virus, some cause genital warts, some cause warts in other sites, some strains are associated with cancer of cervix and throat.
Get HPV vaccine.

: HPV strains are specific to the tissue type they thrive in. Genital wart strains infest the genital skin, although they can cause warts in the oral cavity/mouth of immune deficient individuals (rare). Genital wart strains do not cause skin defects on the regular skin of the thigh. There are skin wart strains. SK's are common and seldom require special testing for diagnosis.

i have a round soft ,skin colored flexible bump on my inner thigh. worried about a genital wart. it isn't flat to the skin ,it kind of looks like a little balloon. it does not hurt or bother me at all. ?

Likely skin tag: Genital warts only invade genital skin. They do not appear balloon like but soon after appearing take on the appearance of a cauliflower. You can ignore it, or have your doc confirm its origin &amp; tie it off or freeze it (which removes it).

: If your boyfriend does not have genital HPV warts then there is no reason to think that you will get them, especially in a non-genital area. If he does have genital warts, non-genital transmission is still extremely unlikely unless there is some trauma to the skin and a defect in the skin integrity.

: In this scenario possibly not. But cant tell you for sure for many other factors like time, type of virus etc are involved

: Be seen and examined by your OBGYN doctor. This is probably a skin tag, not an STD. It can be removed and is not cancerous.

More than likely not: the hair is probably ingrown. A wart would be more fleshy and would get bigger over time. You can always have it looked at. I would be more concerned if it increased in size.

Yes: Genital warts can be small measuring only a few mm or larger cauliflower like lesions.  It is possible to only have a solitary lesion or several lesions at the same time.

Yes: Duofilm containing salicylic acid can be used for treating warts. Notify your physician if not improving. Genital wars, however, require a different treatment plan requiring a doctor's prescription.

Consider Aldara (imiquimod): There are 3 medicines that may be self-applied for genital warts:  
aldara cream (imiquimod), condylox and veregen (sinecatechins). I think most doctors tend to prescribe aldara, which stimulates the immune system.  Other treatments are done in the office--freezing, acid or surgical removal.
