Reconsider this Rx: Metaclopramide (reglan) is a pro-motility agent to improve esophageal and stomach emptying.  However, please read the side effect profile of this medication--it may make you reconsider taking it casually for the indication you describe.

why does gastritis cause nausea?

Stomach isn't happy: If your stomach is "irritated" -what medically we call "gastritis"- one of the ways it can 'complain' about the situation is to help create the symptoms of nausea. Nausea is the prelude to vomiting, which means ur stomach is REALLY not happy &amp; wants to be left alone. Nausea and vomiting are treatable so u should pay attention to these symptoms and help your body get back into balance. Feel better!

i have gastritis...severe nausea..heartburn..a gross distended abdomen...no relief with any meds..been 8 months..what else could be going on?

See GI: It could be several things including, but not limited to, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel syndrome, peptic ulcer disease, etc. The moral is you need to see a gastroenterologist who can further evaluate your symptoms and hopefully come up with a treatment plan.

have acute gastritis. really bad nausea can't even eat 3 crackers w/o getting nausea. have zofran but doesn't always work. also hv carafate (sucralfate) what next ?

PPI: If you have gastritis, an H2 blocker or proton pump inhibitor (PPI) may help your symptoms. Ur may also need a urea breath test or stool test to rule out H. Pylori infection.  If positive, ur will also need antibiotics.  In the meantime, can add melanoma/maalox until H2/PPI start working.

will carafate help with verzenio side effects? i am getting stomach issues with verzenio and i already have gastritis, ibs, and nausea?

: For treatment of gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining), I feel that the best and most effective treatment is stomach acid 
 suppression with medication like famotidine or ppi's like omeprazole or esomeprazole. If you take these meds be sure to take vitamin B12 but it won't be absorbed unless you use the sublingual(under the tongue) form as you won't absorb Vit B12 from oral pills or foods

ate pork yesterday. started getting stomach cramps, increase in gas, nausea, & gastritis upset. next day feel worse w/chills, fatigue, nausea. ?

Food poisoning. : Could very well be food poisoning. Did the pork seem adequately cooked?  Was it from a restaurant (or delivery) and perhaps mishandled?  This could last a few days. Eat lighter fare for now, and drink lots of fluids. If you're not improved by Thursday, see a doctor for an evaluation.

started as sharp cramp lower pelvic region into groin. intermittent cramps, last week or so sharp cramps other side lower back and flank and upper ribs. ct scan clear, im a little gasy.i have gastritis. waves of nausea on occasion. what could it be?

Pelvic cramps: Those symptoms are not characteristic of gastritis. I'm most suspicious of some type of pelvic pathology including ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease or ruptured ovarian cyst. Ultrasound may be more revealing in acute pelvic disorders. I recommend an examination by your gynecologist if pelvic or lower abdominal symptoms persist. For other persistent abdominal discomfort see your MD.

Sure, consider...: ...There are lots of diseases of the stomach that can result in dyspepsia or pyrosis. These can be categorized as: problems with inflammation (e.g. Ulcers), with infection (e.g. H.Pylori or parasites), with motility (examples: gastroparesis, gastric outlet obstruction), with secretion (hyper or hypo-acidity), infiltrative (lymphoma, cancer), blood flow (gastropathies), functional dyspepsias, etc.

GI care: It seams that you are being evaluated for these conditions. How long on Protonix (pantoprazole) and carafate and how much benefit? Are some of your symptoms newer since on this regimen? Bloating and yellow stool may be suggestive of a need for eval of liver, your blood work would better tell this story. Follow up with your gastroenterologist.
