You know: There is no absolute list of favorable or bad foods for your gastritis.Yes the dr said spicy, fatty, italian or whatever.Your gut knows and i respect that-don't eat what upsets your gut and enjoy what you can.

Anything: Food is an excellent buffer of stomach acid - eat anything that doesn't seem to aggravate your symptoms; avoid alcohol, aspirin, nicotine, and analgesic medicines (except tylenol). Use antacids or h2 blockers or ppis as directed by your doctor.

Diet: Tomatoes (often called a vegetable but actually a fruit) are often very good for gastritis. Citrus is best avoided. The easiest way to add fiber to your diet is to get a jar of Millers bran and throw a teaspoon into everything you eat. It has no detectable taste and therefore can be added to anything.

i have gastritis and i'm trying to find fruits and vegetables that help my stools to be soft. what do you suggest?

Stool softener: Bananas, pineapple, prunes, pears, apples, broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes and string beans all have good source of fiber. Remember WATER is very important as a stool softener.

if ppi is taken on regular basis for gastritis. then consumption of tomatoes, citrus fruits, spicy/oily stuff wont have much effect on the healing?

No guarantees : The reduction in stomach acid production by ppi's can help but cannot rule out problems with dietary selection. If one has active gastritis, the dietary choices that you make can slow healing regardless.Much of this will be volume dependent &amp; varies by individual.

after colonoscopy and endoscopy i have been diagnosed with gastritis.. wondering if its safe to eat kiwi fruit and pure cranberry juice? thank u?

: In general acidic foods are believed to be worsening gastritis and possibly reflux symptoms. Kiwi and cranberry juice are considered to be acid and as such they may worsen acid induced gastritis. Not all gastritis is caused by acid, but once inflamed the stomach mucosa becomes sensitive to acid.

can  diet cranberry juice from oceanspray be good as juice to heal h.pylori and mild gastritis.also what fruits and food to help heal the infection?

Probably not: The mild gastritis is likely caused by the h. Pylori infection. H pylori is a bacteria that attacks stomach lining. Effective treatment  is a 10-14 days of antibiotics and a  proton pump inhibitor ( like omeprazole) to decrease acid. Lack of treatment may lead to chronic stomach pain and/or stomach ulcers. There is no good evidence that cranberry juice or specific foods are good treatments.

i have vitamin deficiency and i can't eat fresh fruits and veggies because of my ulcer/gastritis. suggestions?

Supplements: Are you sure you can't eat any fresh fruits and vegetables.  Gastritis/pud could be exacerbated by citrus but what about bananas, avocado, carrots for example.  The other option is to take multivitamin supplements.

Diet for GI problems: The recommended diet would be different for each of those G.I. problems. The best diet for you would depend on which of these are actually causing you the most symptoms.  I would see a gastroenterologist to help sort out your predominant problem and base your diet on that. Until then, a high fiber diet low in citrus fruits and tomatoes would be a good place to start. Not a good solution!: Gastritis can be helped by bland foods like milk, ice cream and non spicy, non acidic foods. Also an antacid like maalox would help. If it does not get better within one week, you need to get a check up by your docotr to find the cause of your symptoms.
