ICE even late and: Motion of fingers helps reduce swelling. When you make a fist and extend fingers you actually compress tissues on the side opposite to the way you move try it, make a tight fist on your opposite hand and you see how the skin on the back of the hand and wrist is squeezed down.  Wrist motion is good too once your wound can tolerate it. Talk to your surgeon  times therapy is needed . Don't forget ice.

Good Luck.: There is really no way of knowing for sure. Factors influencing post-operative swelling include, age, location, size, activity level and tissue disruption from the surgery are just a few. Some never swell and some can swell for extended periods. Follow the post-operative instructions and avoid over use until the wound can get a good start at healing.

Swelling: A ganglion cyst is usually, but not always well defined.  It can be tender.  Swelling may also be caused by inflammation of the joint such as synovitis or from arthritis.

Generally any drug, herb, treatment, or oil that stands up to rigorous scientific scrutiny is included in modern medicine. Could be normal: You may have persistent swelling, but this should start to improve.  Howvever, if your entire hand is numb, you need to discuss with your surgeon.

RICE: First elevate the extremity.  Some post-op swelling is to be expected and should resolved in a week or so.  If however your incision is draining, or your hand is red and warm, this may be a post-op infection.  You should contact your surgeon so that they can evaluate your hand asap to rule this out.

: Since it has already “popped”. Push out as much fluid possible. Then apply antibiotic and cover with bandage. No guarantee it will not return.
