i have problems with gallbladder all tests normal but tender to touch my urine sample has showed blood and lecuotes  is that anything to do with it?

Accepted Answer

No: Blood in urine most commonly caused by urinary infection. Could also be due to kidney stones. Also could be related to problem of ureters or kidney. If gallbladder ultrasound and liver blood tests normal, a hida scan can check to see if the gallbladder is functioning correctly.

i have a gallbladder sludge and tomorrow have to have a nuclear med test for gallbladder. will sludge show up on test? will results show normal ?

Accepted Answer

No.: "sludge" is seen on ultrasound. The test you are having, a hida scan, watches the gall bladder empty. It's not as accurate as ultrasound for seeing fine details like sludge, but it sees if you have pain during the test, and the "ejection fraction" is low, it is abnormal, and usually surgery is recommended.

Yes: A cck hida scan is just what the radiologist ordered.  Seriously, the amount the gallbladder contracts under stimulation will tell if a non- functioning or poorly functioning is behind the symptoms.

i have autoimmune pancreatitis. my fecal test came back normal and it makes me wonder how if its inflamed. i also have sludge in the gallbladder?

: How was the AIP diagnosis  made? Did they take blood samples and antibody levels ?  ERCP? Have you been treated for autoimmune pancreatitis? if you have been treated the fecal elastase test can  revert to  normal because the inflammation is quiescent. Discuss w/ GI if this is AIP or chronic  pancreatitis from sludge see  N Engl J Med 1992; 326:589-593  or other cause such as alcohol/abnormal  duct

had an embolism yr ago. can it damage liver? all blood work normalized except bilirubin which fluctuates between normal & slightly elevated. liver u/s /gallbladder normal. last 3 bilirubin tests past 3 mths 25,19 and 21 umol/l. could this be serious?

i had an unremarkable ct scan and u/s.  hida scan ef was 14%.  removal of gallbladder is recommended.  my question is this...i had been taking vicodin for 3-4 days before hida scan.  would that affect test?  also, only had a slight twinge in my back that

Gallbladder: NO , sounds like you should proceed with the gallbladder removal

had two normal poops little constipated then later had loose mushy stool. i do have chronic gastritis had endoscopy last week with all biopsys benign. having gallbladder test on my request not dr request. could the stools be gastritis or gallbladde?

: More likely diet and hydration related, very common for changes in stool character depending on your diet and eating habits. Doubt gallbladder or biliary tree issues without any pain or other symptoms

right side discomfort. gallbladder ultrasound normal but positive murphys sign. the area is itchy. right flank/back is tender & painful. kidney/liver blood tests normal. bloated. if not gallbladder then what?

: If I highly suspect  gall bladder symptoms despite a negative ultrasound I ask the patient to be seen by an abdominal surgeon for an opinion. I do this because I have seen negative gall bladder ultrasounds in the presence of sludge or nonopaque gallstones and cholecystectomy resolved the issue.

Not specifically.: You can infer gallbladder pathology at times by relevant symptoms combined with some abnormalities in blood testing, but imaging studies are really required to make sure - ultrasound, HIDA scan, MRCP, ERCP.

Sphincter?: Ask your doctors about sphincter of Oddi syndrome. There are several types, some more responsive to endoscopic sphincterotomy than others. Hope this helps!
