Trial of labor: There is no right or wrong answer. A trial of labor with timely c/section if there is inadequate progress of cervical dilatation would be a reasonable approach.

Pregnancy: You can't choose your babies size. The size of your baby has nothing to do with getting fat during pregnancy. The amount of weigh you gain is up to you, as long as baby is growing properly. The uterus returns to normal size, when the baby is out. What you should be asking is, what is the best way to eat to get a healthy baby!!!! Get your priorities straight.

It means little: Fundal height generally approximates but does not always correlate to the actual gestational age. The measurement that you describe, I am assuming, is an ultrasound that is also an approximation.

Nonspecific: If your dates are good stick with 30 weeks.  If not so sure split the difference 31 weeks.  The fundal height is subject to interpretation and not specific.  It is just a general idea.

diagnosed my baby fetal macrsomia. i'm 33wks+5 and fundal height measuring 37 wks. ultrasound at 2 wks ahead. have no risk factors. should i worry?

Macrosomia: Every baby grows at slightly different rates. U/S measurements are "dated" on an average growth rate, so any given time may be larger or smaller than average, but still be normal.  Sometimes, the U/S may be correct, but since bleeding can occur with pregnancy, you may just have gotten pregnant a month earlier than you calculated.

what is more accurate? fundal height measurement or measuring the baby through an ultrasound? i'll be 24w tomorrow and haven't had my belly measured

Baby  growth: The fundal height is good for trending over the course of your pregnancy and fh is +/- 2-4 cm = weeks once past 20 weeks. Most doc's will start measuring fh at 20 or 24 week visit. U/s has a 10-15% error of calculating baby weight throughout pregnancy and assigning dates varies with gestational age.

baby fundal height was 38 at 38 weeks than measured 37.5 at 39 weeks? could it be because it was 2 different doctors  measuring me causing different measurements? or can baby fundal height go down? baby is head down.

Accepted Answer

As the pregnancy: progresses, in the later weeks, softening of the lower uterine segment, allows the head to move down in the pelvis. This is called engagement. As this occurs the fundal height drops in the last few weeks, as you have seen for yourself.

Plus/minus 2cm: The fundal height should not vary more than two centimeters from what your gestational age is at the time. Your doctor would probably order an ultrasound to assess the situation further it you are lagging behind or measuring ahead.

Probably not much: As long as us looks ok, and all evidence shows baby is healthy and growing, thats good. No test is 100% perfect and there are no 100% guarantees even with 1000s of tests or exams. Ask your doctor next time. Often the weeks gestation and fundal height dont match exactly. Everthing you reported here sounds ok.
