Yes: 5th metatarsal fractures esp. @ the base of the bone are common.Even if you are able to put some weight on your foot you should get an x-ray .A sprain of the peroneal tendons is possible but an examination and x-rays by your ors ( orthopedic surgeon) is best. Good luck!

my second toe on my right foot hurts when moved. there is no swelling or bruising. i didnt do any physical activity today that would injure it. it suddenly started to hurt when i walked or moved it. is it broken? can i leave it as it is?

: Given the information provided is very difficult to determine the cause, if any,  to your painful foot. I would give it tincture of time. You can try an anti inflammatory medication like ibuprofen or Aleve. If further symptoms and questions seek medical advice. A podiatrist

Hard to say: There are many causes of pain in the foot without any apparent trauma.  Without knowing more about your boy's health history and getting a look at his tootsie, i'd be misleading you with any specific answers.

It's always safest and best to bring it in to a podiatrist, perhaps get an x-ray, and know for certain.  Hope your boy feels better and good luck!

Purely based: On exact location of pain and clinical exam the doctor should have a differential diagnosis. Xrays only show bone and are only going to help if there is bony injury.
If you simply mark your foot with an "x" take a pic and post it a differential diagnosis could be given...Was your doctor a specialist?

Plantar Fascitis?: You should consult a Podiatrist or your Primary care doctor as y iou may have Plantar Fasctis and if it is so,will need to be treated appropriately

Depends: Many things can cause pain to the top of the foot. If no trauma, or overuse activity, then shoe irritation (laces too tight or shoe too tight) is common cause.   If better shoes, icing and anti inflammatories are not helpful, then an evaluation is recommended. Dr l.

Understand: U may still need to get one if it gets worse.   In the mean time wear athletic flat shoes (no heels) reduce your activity to only whats necessary, no sports, dancing. apply ice to area and take some over the counter meds like ibuprofen for relief.
