Complex carbohydrate: Complex carbohydrates such as sweet potatoes, whole grains, beans and legumes - provide starch, stored as glycogen which is available to you for your workouts and for your muscles- so when you do resistance training to build up muscle mass- you will have the energy to do so. Need strict plan: First have a check up with a doctor- Under active thyroid must be ruled out.

Modified ketogenic diet- low carbohydrate diet &amp; low glycemic  carbs. Plenty of vegetables &amp; fruits &amp; nuts.

Grass fed beef,free range chicken,&amp; eggs- 8 glasses of purified water.Daily exercise of your tolerance.

Often a bad diet: Eat foods that are nutrient dense (like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, low starch vegatables and water) avoid foods that are not nutrient dense (like starches and sugars, including fruit)
nutrient dense foods will increase your basal metabolic rate. On the other hand, starches and sugars impair thyroid metabolism via affects on your liver (which helps activate thyroid hormone).

Grazing: Turning your three high protein low carbohydrate meals into six smaller meals/ day. Never letting your stomach get completely empty. Eating slowly and stopping when full.  Grazing is a very good concept when it comes to keeping the metabolism going.

Low metabolism: Change up the workout. Cardio, cardio, cardio...... Way to go. Could see your primary care physician, but at 23 I doubt your thyroid levels are off. Would suggest to avoid energy drinks and pills. What does your workout entail? Maybe see a physical trainer at the gym.

^ met rate: Make sure that you don't eat like a bird. Some people eat very little to drop weight - but end up slowing their metabolic rate. Engage in regular aerobic activity. Building muscle mass will also help to burn more calories. Hydrate well.

Get a plan: If you are below your ideal body weight, you need to think about what you eat and get the right number of calories in the right foods to achieve your goal.  On the other hand, you're probably ok and 10% body fat is low but not dangerous.  Eat good foods, not junk, and you'll be fine.

When shopping for fruits, buy small ones no bigger than a tennis ball, because fruits have sugar. Drinks without calories include water and green tea. A calorie is a calorie, but surely avoid sugar & simple starch calories.

Eat.. : Weight gain is accomplished by eating more calories than you burn.  If you want to gain lean weight (muscle mass), you will need to increase your caloric intake and make a large portion of that increase be protein and complex (rather than simple sugar) carbohydrates.
