Not reported: Fluoride is an essential element needed for healthy bone & teeth development.In areas where groundwater has high levels, a mottled staining of teeth is common and some bony changes are reported. Growth delay has not been a listed effect. Acute injestion ( eating multiple tubes of fluoridated toothpaste) can lead to a variety of problems including death.

Accepted Answer

No: Fluoride is not associated with delayed tooth eruption. If there is excessive Fluoride intake during tooth development fluorosis (a mottling of the teeth) can occur.  This is a cosmetic problem, though functionally the teeth are fine. 
In cases of Fluoride overdose (which would require very high levels of acute or chronic Fluoride intake), other more serious physiologic effects can occur.

No: Fluoridation of municipal water has been instrumental in preventing dental caries, but there is no evidence that it is linked to any causes of death.

No: I have seen no study linking Fluoride to cancer. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral like calcium. Like other minerals taken in excess it is toxic. The toxic levels are well beyond any normal use.

Depends: It depends on toothpaste Fluoride concentration. To prevent it, children must be supervised until healthy toothbrushing habits have developed.

Pretty low risk: You are fine at this point!  Remember most babies are fed formula mixed with tap water (which may also have fluoride)  Just no need to add extra fluoride at this point.  You are a great mom for worrying about this but no need for further additional fluoride through the nursery water.

Probably nothing: It can help strengthen teeth in the proper quantity and so without Fluoride the teeth may be more prone to cavities.

No: Not to the best of my knowledge and I have not seen any articles referencing this as a cause.

Accepted Answer

A Lot: Unless you make a meal out of it, i would not be worried. Swallowing a small bit of toothpaste while brushing your teeth will have no affect on your overall health. The actual amount depends on the concentration of Fluoride in the toothpaste and your weight, which we do not know.
