ive taken omeprazole for reflux for a year. how can i come off it without having symptoms?

Slowly: It is recommended that Omeprazole be weaned as opposed to coming off of it abruptly. If done too rapidly, this can lead to a rebound of acid production and rapid return of symptoms. Some would suggest slowly tapering the dose and using short acting antacids such as calcium carbonate or ranitidine as needed as one weans. You should talk to your prescribing clinician on how best to discontinue it.

i might have taken a 2nd 40mg omeprazole 2 hours after my usual dose. i don't feel different, but should i skip a day to be safe?

No: Depending on the condition the maximum dose is 80-120mg per day.

So potentially 80mg shouldn't be a big problem and should be ok to take your usual dose tomorrow.

i've been taken omeprazole last couple weeks. it was effective. is it okay to take it once even not two weeks continously? just for the acidity strike

Well.....: while it is marketed over the counter as prilosec more-or-less for exactly that use...
1) lowers stomach acidity (duh) which 
2) lowers calcium absorption
3)  increases the germs in the stomach which can increase risk of pneumonia if you have reflux.

You can: Some labels say it&#x27;s best to take probiotics on an empty stomach, before a meal that contains some fat. http://tinyurl.com/mot8f55 however, you have more stomach acid in that condition -- and some probiotic species don&#x27;t survive that although others do. I take mine right after a meal.  :-)  you can take Omeprazole ; probiotic together, but it&#x27;s better to avoid Omeprazole if you can.

Unfortunately I do: not know what you mean by carbimazole. To my knowledge there is not a drug with that name. Omeprazole and Propranolol go together without concern.

Rosacea: I am not familiar with this treatment for rosacea. Topical Metronidazole remains the gold standard.

See your pharmacist: These medications can generally be safely taken together. However, your local pharmacist is an excellent resource for this kind of question. If you ever need information about drug interactions, the pharmacy that fills your prescriptions will generally offer you free counseling on side effects. Also, all pharmacists should be able to check for drug interactions.

i have taken 3 omeprazole tablets, in 4 days. however i am being prescribed another ppi instead, how long will it take the omeprazole to leave my system?

Accepted Answer

: Consider it gone by the end of the day. The half life, or time needed for 1/2 to leave the body is a few hours with 4 half lives to be defined as when it is not functionally present. I wouldn't worry about any overlap or drug incompatibility with a different PPI started the next day.
