Ive taken omeprazole for reflux for a year. how can i come off it without having symptoms?

Slowly: It is recommended that Omeprazole be weaned as opposed to coming off of it abruptly. If done too rapidly, this can lead to a rebound of acid production and rapid return of symptoms. Some would suggest slowly tapering the dose and using short acting antacids such as calcium carbonate or ranitidine as needed as one weans. You should talk to your prescribing clinician on how best to discontinue it.
