It depends...: The hawley (i'm guessing you mean your retainer) was intended to keep things still, not to move them.  If it repositions your teeth to where they were when the impression was made movement will depend on how far they have moved and how long they have been there. It could be weeks, months, or more pending the details. I recommend a follow-up with your orthodontist.

To move the teeth, depending on their position, you can use something as simple as an active retainer, to brackets and wires (traditional orthodontics).  Orabands wont move all the teeth, and will open spaces elsewhere.
