It depends...: The hawley (i'm guessing you mean your retainer) was intended to keep things still, not to move them. If it repositions your teeth to where they were when the impression was made movement will depend on how far they have moved and how long they have been there. It could be weeks, months, or more pending the details. I recommend a follow-up with your orthodontist.

Depends on position: If the top teeth flared forward and there is what we call "overjet" present (top is out ahead of the bottom and not touching), it could be quick if you wear the hawley all the time. If there is no overjet present (top front teeth touch the bottom front teeth when you bite), a hawley is unlikely to work. Your orthodontist should have checked this and can offer other solutions if necessary.

It depends...: Small gaps can take from 1 to 6 months. Hawley retainers are not well-suited for larger gaps between teeth.

Tough one : A gap that opens this quickly, even when teeth bonded together, usually signifies a Periodontal problem. You may need more than just a removable retainer.
