Personal Decision: Whether or not to have a hysterectomy is a personal decision that only you can really make. It sounds like the fibroids are affecting your quality of life. What you need to decide is whether they are affecting you enough to undergo major surgery. There are risks to surgery, but those must be weighed against the benefits. Have a frank discussion with your GYN and they can help you.

what makes the fat around the belly when one has big fibroids?

Fat around the belly: Is not caused by fibroids, if you are referring to "pinching an inch" or a roll of flesh hanging over your waistline. However, large fibroids in a thin person can cause the appearance of a large abdomen, although it is not a typically "fatty" abdomen.

i have a fibroid tumor the size of a softball and a large cyst on my ovary. my stomach hurts so bad today. surgery is wed. should i be concerned?

Maybe: There are four types of fibroid uterine  locations 1) within the wall. 2) under the lining of the uterus(endometrium) 3) Just under the outside uterine surface 4) on a stalk outside of the uterus itself (pedunculated) . You need a GYN MD and ultrasound to distinguish which location type you have as it has an impact on future conception possibilities.

my fibroids are 3cm all 3 of them i also have cysts on my ovaries. he described my uterus as 12 weeks what does that mean? and tummy look swollen?

12 weeks means...: That on your pelvic exam your uterus is enlarged because of the fibroids to the size a uterus would be if you were 12 weeks pregnant. If you're thin, an enlarged uterus can make your lower abdomen appear swollen/pregnant. Talk to your doctor about treatment options.

12w5d preg. at 9 wk ultrasound i was told i have a fibroid. went for my scan today (diff doctor) - he could not see anything. i have a pain at the top of my tummy in a certain spot. if i touch it then it is sore to the touch from outsid. is this bad?

Likely unrelated: A fibroid is simply an overgrowth of uterine muscle at a focal area that often resembles a knot/ball. It's potential size varies from tiny to very large. It rarely causes any symptoms. Your focal pain is likely unrelated. If it bothers you have it evaluated.

No: Unless the fibroid is sub mucosal it is unlikely it would affect your pregnancy. Even it was, it wouldn't affect your ability to get pregnant.

Fibroid confirmed: The dark bleeding and abdominal/back pain are characteristic of a degenerating or growing fibroid. It sounds like it is a good time to go back to the MD and "get checked" for a care plan if the fibroid is confirmed.

Multiple causes: Lower abdominal tenderness can be related to fibroids, ovarian, appendix, bladder related, diverticulosis. You should get it evaluated if it's bothering you.
