High ferritin: Are you taking any iron? How high is your ferritin? If it is really high and you are not taking any iron, you should be evaluated for hemochromatosis especially in the presence of diabetes and liver disease. You could ask your doctor to do hemochromatosis  profile and if positive, you will need liver biopsy  and you will need members of family tested . Treatment is phlebotomy to remove iron.

Fatty liver...: In the presence of fatty liver, the serum ferritin level can be elevated. Your ferritin level is mildly elevated and the fatty liver is the likely etiology. Ferritin is an acute phase reactant and the fat tissue can cause inflammation. If you are overweight, weight loss is the best way to decrease your fatty liver. Avoid alcohol also. When the level is re-checked, hopefully it will be lower.

Both: a ferritin level above 300 in a male usually indicates iron overload from hemochromatosis. It is also high in other causes of liver inflammation so more specific testing is necessary to differentiate hemochromatosis from others. Genetic testing, imaging, and biopsy are options

Need evaluation: Are you jaundiced? What other medications are you taking, including over the counter ones? Is your bilirubin 5mg/dl? More information is needed from your medical history, physical examination and may be additional tests. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Please consult a GI doc.

: ALT and GGT are more important in acute liver problem, not in chronic disease as in your case. You did not give info about AST and bilirubin results, especially bilirubin direct because you mentioned dark yellow urine. I wonder if you have been evaluated by a hepatologist and if liver biopsy has even been suggested. Med for TB can cause hepatitis but liver problem antedated pulm TB in your case.

May need liverbiopsy: Although blood testing (measurement of iron studies and hfe assay) combined with family history can be very suggestive, a liver biopsy with iron staining clinches a diagnosis of hemochromatosis and distinguishes it from other iron overload diseases. Ferritin by the way can also be reactive or a secondary phenomenon.

Lifestyle change: This would be a great time for you both to put aside the drinking and take up some serious fitness activities. I trust you've also been checked for hepatitis C, Wilson's, and other causes of elevated transaminases and fatty liver. Your genetics has probably given you a liver that really doesn't like alcohol but wants you to exercise hard instead. Why not be kind to your body? It'll be fun. Cheers.

Sure..start now: Distinguish fatty liver (steatosis) from fatty liver with abnormal liver tests (steatohepatitis). Best to start with a weight loss diet based on calorie and fat restriction, avoid alcohol, control diabetes ; cholesterol (if present).  Your doctor will likely want to monitor your labwork, image the liver, ; rule out other diseases that can mimick the pattern of liver tests seen with fatty changes.

Diet: Fatty liver is sometimes referred to as nash. Generally an elevated level of cholesterol or triglycerides in the blood can cause fatty liver.

Fatty liver can regress with lifestyle modification.  It is best to decrease alcohol and fat intake or start an exercise program as directed by your physician.  Sometimes medications called "statins" can assist in treating a fatty liver.
