Blood: Blood in Stool is abnormal and needs to be explained. It simply may be from hemorrhoids or anal fissure, but tumors,diverticulosis and inflammatory bowel disease have to be ruled out. Discuss this with your physician who will arrange for the proper evaluation and referrals to appropriate specialists.

Seems to be  normal.: The color of stool varies frequently and depends on the food eaten. The smell also varies on type of food eaten and the duration of digestion. Burning after bowel movements is a sign of soreness in the anal area usually from hard stools. If the symptoms are constant or associated with abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, fever, or blood in stools, then don't worry about them.

Narrow stools: The odor comes from ingesting sulfur containing foods including meats, sea food, beans,peas. Narrow stools aren't necessarily worrisome. Difficulty passing stool can be helped by inserting a glycerin rectal suppository prior to the BM. Continue drinking adequate fluids,take fiber like Metamucil daily and exercise regularly for more regular BM's.

Dehydration?: Are you drinking enough fluids, specifically water? It is the kidneys job to remove accumulated acids. For water conservation the kidney can remove these acids in a very concentrated urine, which would then be dark with a strong smell. Drink more free water, at least an extra quart of free water in addition to any other fluids ingested in a day.
