Symptom treatment: Facet ablation does not affect or halt the underlying disease, it simply targets underlying pain.  Generally it is not performed without prior imaging to rule out more serious conditions.

Cyst where? : On ur spine can mean a benign bone cyst, in that case there's no reason not 2 have them. On ur spinal cord is a different situation all together ; would need looking into b 4 shots. If u r uncomfortable with ur md get a second opinion.

Uncommon: It's unlikely to have side effects other than the pain of a needle going into your back. Uncommon side effects include bleeding, infection, and i've seen 2 people with punctured lungs from this. I don't believe i've ever seen anyone get these and actually have significant long term pain relief.

Back pain: Most patients with back pain are best treated with weight loss, core strengthening, regular exercise, regular stretching, and anti-inflammatory meds as needed.  It is very unlikely that the disc bulges in your thorax are the major cause of you back pain.  Please consult your pcp for further input on this complex problem.

20f chronic pain for two years in my spine. my recent xray showed sclerosis of l5-s1 facet joint which can be due to degenerative change. and minimal anterior osteophytes of the mid thoracic spine. i was wondering what this could indicate or mean?

: Having degenerative changes in spine at age 20 is unusual. Best you see an orthopedist for exam and co-relation with Xray findings. Hope you feel better.

Not exactly: If you are referring to ablation of the peripheral nerve that supplies sensation to the facet joints-- the medial branch of the dorsal primary ramus?
The nerve can regenerate over time, but the ablative procedure can be repeated.

The procedure is only effective in a patient with pain coming from the facet joints. Doesn't work for any other cause of chronic back. Proper diagnosis is  the key!

It could be: It depends on your symptoms.  Keep your doctor informed.

If there is : Muscle spasm it may cause temporary malalignment, or if there is a vertebral fracture it may also cause an alignment issue

Eval nerurology: Depends largely on size of disc and degree of compression and resultant myelopathy (from cord compression)
Will need neurology consultation to start with and possibly neurosurgery

Be checked: That is a major fall. It may just be strain or bruising or maybe you broke a rib and injured your lung. Get a trauma assessment now. All the best.
