Cyst where? : On ur spine can mean a benign bone cyst, in that case there's no reason not 2 have them. On ur spinal cord is a different situation all together ; would need looking into b 4 shots. If u r uncomfortable with ur md get a second opinion.

There are : Indications for thoracic facet joint injection. If you are having symptoms referrable to the thoracic facet joints that fail conservative management including pt, nsaids, then a facet injection could be a helpful next step.

Depends: Facet injections help relieve pain from the facet joint due to arthritic conditions or whiplash injuries. Occasionally the facet joint has a synovial cyst (which is an out pouching of the original joint capsule) associated with it that may compress a nerve and cause pain. If so then the facet injection may be used to reduce the pain from that.
