what can i do for wrist pain, mainly pisiform bone? pain even when i move wrist a certain way. pinky has felt numb in the past. brace hasn't helped.

See hand doc: There is a possibility u have a fracture of the pisiform bone as well as compression of your ulna nerve which lies i the same area.

See hand specialist for exam it may include special x-rays ( ct scan or mri) and possibly a nerve test.

slammed hand in door 2 days ago had it x-rayed yesterday. dr. said no fracture but still can't move fingers or wrist w/o extreme pain.  what can i do?

A swollen hand can: Be painful, stiff and difficult to care for even in th absence of fracture. Swelling in the  hands and fingers and joints makes everyting feel tight and if the fingers are not gently mobilized, stiffness and even contracture can set in. Ice, antiinflammatories, gentle elevation, stressing passive and active motion, hand therapy all can  help. Follow up  is important even w/ negative xray.

Wrist pain: If you notice a lump @ the wrist at the same time, it may be due to a ganglion cyst which is a form of arthritis where the lining of the wrist bones protrudes out from the bones causing pain.

Wrist pain: So many things possible. The fact that is non trauma related makes you think of an inflammatory arthritis or crystal (gout) arthritis. Specific overuse problems such as dorsal compartment tenosynovitis. Hard to give specific answer without complete history and physical.

Tendinitis: . Infection. Gout, inflammation and nerve compression all can be very painful in the involved tissues. Ice, splinting and nsaids are a decent general treament but a proper evaluation and diagnosis is needed.

Arthritis.  : What you describe is a symptom of arthritis.  At your age there are several different types.  An infection in the joint, venereal disease,  reactive arthritis, are some of the more common.  Depending on your exam and other medical history there are many other types of arthritis which could be the cause.  I would recommend that if it has been there for more than a few days you see a doctor

Wrist Pain: There is not enough information to give you a clear answer.  If you have had a recent fall, there are many small bones in the wrist that can be injured, and some of them have tenuous blood supply when injured.  If you have had a recent injury i recommend an evaluation including x-rays.
If you are over age 50 there is a good chance this could be early arthritis.  There are also other possibilities.

Need exam: Dud you hurt your wrist? Trauma would be a likely cause. If pain doesn't subside with Ibuprofen 2-3 times daily in a few days, pl get it checked to rule out conditions like Carpal tunnel syndrome etc. which may require proper diagnosis and management to avoid complications.

Many possibilities: At the top of the list would be some form of wrist tendonitis but other possibilities would include latent injury such as unrecognized scaphoid fracture, ligament sprains, occult masses such as ganglia, avn of the lunate (kienbock's), and tfcc injury (though surely not a classic description). You should have a good exam with plain x-rays and possibly an mri. Best of luck.
