See a surgeon: you need to see a surgeon,the burning pain you are experiencing,could be a sign of recurrent hernia.your surgeon can help you.
apply heat pad on the area,and take ibuprofen.

Post Op: It is common, especially in the inguinal area, to pull or irritate the mesh or scar tissue from a previous hernia repair. This sensation should ease over the next few days.

i have been experiencing a burning or stabbing pain 3 weeks after inguinal hernia surgery. it comes and goes a few times a day. is this normal?

Not really: Call your doctor, surgeon to let her/him know of this. You want to make sure the mesh is in place and not out of place stabbing you, or pushing on something that it shouldn't be. You have 90 days of post op care that's prepaid with your surgery. So, don't delay. Your surgeon needs to know this information. Good luck!

When to get checked: Your surgeon or your regular doc will need to exam you. Hernia can recur. A new problem or a recurrence should be evaluated as an outpatient. An ultrasound may help to determine. Good luck.

i had right inguinal hernia surgery in 2010, burning, numbness and feeling of my cord being pulled by mesh, does mesh need to be removed?

Mesh: Mesh put in during inguinal hernia repair is not usually removed unless there are complcations. Discuss your concerns with a general surgeon

Probably normal: These types of "tension" repairs are often associated with pain for 4-6 weeks. On rare occasions, chronic pain of varying levels can develop. If you think something is wrong, see your surgeon for a follow up exam. If you're not satisfied, consider a second opinion from a surgeon interested in hernia disease - you can find one on the Americas Hernia Society website. Hope this helps!

Well: Need more history. Do you do lifting or straining?  You need to be examined and see if you need the original surgery repaired. See doctor and give a good history of what is going on and your surgical history

Uncommon: Some times when the scar tissue is settling may get pain, go back and see your surgeon for a follow up care, and will explain to you the reason for your pain.

Go for follow up: Some times , takes time to resolve the colectd blood and fluid , also if there is graft ( mesh ) takes time to get incorporated into tissue. And always a possibility of recurrence usually not this soon. See your surgeon who will explain to you.

Hernia Pain: Sometimes hernias can come back. It's possible that you may have a recurrence of your hernia. It can also be other things, but the best thing to do would be to make an appointment to be evaluated by a surgeon.
