When to get checked: Your surgeon or your regular doc will need to exam you. Hernia can recur. A new problem or a recurrence should be evaluated as an outpatient. An ultrasound may help to determine. Good luck.

Not typically normal: These may be symptoms of recurrent hernia. Sometimes they can also be associated with scar formation causing entrapment of the ilioinguinal or iliohypogastric nerve. Either way, it would be best to bring this to the attention of the surgeon who repaired your hernia and go to him or her for an evaluation.
