Mesh: Mesh put in during inguinal hernia repair is not usually removed unless there are complcations. Discuss your concerns with a general surgeon

Removal of mesh.: Usually the mesh is not removed after a hernia repair. If you're having these symptoms you should contact the operating surgeon.

Possibly.: Please revisit the surgeon who performed the surgery, if possible, for further recommendations, especially since your surgery was 4 years ago. If these are new symptoms, it may have moved or post-op adhesions may be bothering you. It is unusual for burning and numbness of the skin to occur 4 years after surgery. There may be a new process going on.
