: It should help. If it does not, you can use Nasonex or Nasacort in between.

i've been using flonase for almost three months 1 spray each nostril twice a day.  can it cause more mucus to build up in eustachian tube?.

No: Less. Many people sniff this up strongly which means that much of it goes to the throat and is swallowed. Read the instructions. It should be aimed to the side and retained inside the nose. Many people also take an antihistamine. NOT BENADRYL. Allegra, Claratin, Zyrtec. Generics are the same with lower price.

hi, i have muffled hearing in my left ear. i am almost certain that it is a build up of mucus in the eustachian tube. i have just come from the end of the flu, after 6 days. how long does it take for the eustachian tube to clear? thanks.

It depends : It depends On things like your specific anatomy (how vertical your Eustachian tube is), how hydrated you are , other medications you are taking, etc. if not improved in a few days try irrigating your sinuses with a saline rinse daily. If any pain, swelling or discharge of the ear occurs go to clinic

had fluid behind 1 eardrum, it's gone now, but still have ringing in ear(barely noticeable). is it possible that there is some mucous in eustachian tube that you can't see? could covid cause this? been 4 months about 99% better; how much longer?

: The ringing is likely just tinnitus which is unrelated to the fluid accumulation. Their presence at the same time was likely coincidental.

Unlikely: Decongestants usually do not clear eustachian tube obstruction with mucus.  It would not be harmful to try sudafed, but if say 5 days of treatment does not help, i would not continue. Trying  decongestant nasal drops and lying down with your head turned to the side may allow the drops to get into the tube and might give some relief.  In general, these are viral infections and  immunity will cure.

: The Eustachian tubes drain mucus created by the membranes of the middle ear to the throat as well as permitting air to enter the middle ear cavity from the throat when straightened by jaw movement/Valsalva. Some may be more prone to noticeable noise when their allergies or colds are active. I consider this activity a normal feature of a normal structure. I don't treat normal.

You can't: The eustachian tube itself is internal and cannot be cleaned. Things that cause nasal congesiton, such as allergies and colds, can lead to blockage of the eustachian tube. Therefore, treating nasal congestion and keeping the nose open can help keep the eustachian tube open. Structural issues, such as enlarged tonsils, can affect the eustachian tube as well.
