Resect: 75% of oesophageal cysts will become symptomatic, therefore , resection is advised as soon as diagnosed. See your board certified thoracic surgeon.

radiologist noted 2.3 cm cyst alongside my esophagus and cyst in my right kidney.  my regular doc told me my ct scan was normal. really?

Kidney cyst: is a common incidental finding, usually of no clinical concern.  Cyst next to esophagus not very common, if they are sure it is just a cyst it may simply be a congenital duplication cyst or other benign cyst, also probably of no significance.  However, it may be worthwhile to ask your doctor about the cyst alongside the esophagus just to be sure.

my ct scan shows a 2.3 cm bronchogenic cyst located next to my esophagus about the 10th intercostal space (radiologist).  doc says ct normal.  really?

Benign conditon: It is not a "normal" CT, but they did comment on the presence of the bronchogenic cyst, that is how you know it is present.  These are rare, and can lead to coughing, weezing and pneumonia, or be asymptomatic.  The comment of normal probably menas that the remainder of the CT is unremarkable.  You can ask to have the radiologist amend his report.

i have a 4cm cyst in my throat above sternum, its pushing against my thyroid, larynx and esophagus. what are the best surgical practices and risk invo?

Thyroid cyst: If it is a thyroid cyst, and there are no worrisome features on ultrasound, then it may not require any treatment. Unless it causes trouble with swallowing or breathing. Important to find a surgeon who does a lot of thyroid surgery.  The surgery is usually straightforward, often outpatient. Risks are to parathyroids and nerve to larynx, but risk is low in good hands.

i may be pregnant and i have an iintestnal cyst. would that be ddangerous go the baby, there thinking it a duplication cyst.

Accepted Answer

No: The cyst per se isn't dangerous to the baby.  If you need surgery during your pregnancy, that could be an issue, though women have surgery frequently during pregnancy with no complications.  Your GI doctor is best able to let you know how serious this cyst is, but just having a cyst in the intestinal tract doesn't put fetus at risk.

Need surgery: Duplication cyst of small bowel can result in complications .Complications include perforation, intussusception, bowel obstruction from adjacent pressure or mass effect, volvulus, and associated rare malignancy can bleed, . Surgery is recommended. Laparoscopic surgery now can be performed to speed recovery phase.

recently had an mri.  showed a ovoid cyst, duplication mass, or a nerve sheath tumor at t4 should i be concerned?

Mass at T4 level: You are giving only part of the information. Why was the MRI ordered. The clinical history needs to be correlated with MRI finding then perhaps a CT guided biopsy might be necessary. Without more info here very difficult to diagnose or give further reccomendations. Please arrange detail physician appointment for diagnostic options.

i have a duplication cyst in my intestines, i now have low ferritian and high crp ( cardio), could the cyst be the cause? can these cyst cause cancer?

No: Duplication cysts are fairly common and don't usually cause problems.  They don't cause low ferritin.  The CRP that I'm familiar with is C-reactive protein, which is a non-specific marker of inflammation.  It is elevated during any kind of inflammation, including infection, injury or after surgery.

Pseudocyst: Pseudocyst is a fluid collection that forms in a person that does not have a cellular cyst wall. It is most commonly used to describe a pancreas fluid collection that can occur after a serious episode of pancreatitis.

Accepted Answer

Not normal anatomy: However, if imaging studies indicate no reason to be concerned about malignancy, and your physician is not concerned, it may be left well enough alone.  In the ovary, correct?
