Need surgery: Duplication cyst of small bowel can result in complications .Complications include perforation, intussusception, bowel obstruction from adjacent pressure or mass effect, volvulus, and associated rare malignancy can bleed, . Surgery is recommended. Laparoscopic surgery now can be performed to speed recovery phase.

Depends: Duplication cysts are usually benign, so the need for surgery is related to how bad your symptoms are. The operation can sometimes be done laparoscopically, depending on what part of the intestines are involved.
