Screening only: Ecg is a low tech screening tool. It can be abnormal with or without chest pain. The whole history and physical need to be taken into account. A risk score has been developed to risk stratify pts and includes several items and ECG is just one of them.

Get cardiac workup: Get cardiac workup if it is normal, get your doctor to rule out lung problems and gerd, it also can be anxiety or panic attack.

For Calming: I'm sorry this happened and do not know why.  If you were screaming a lot, or if you were thrashing and fighting with the er staff, they may have decided that the best place for you was the psychiatry unit.  This is because the psychiatry unit is where the staff are trained to help people to calm down.  I do hope that you were able to become calm and that your chest pain went away.

Chest pain: If you were having chest pain and had couplet( pair PVC'S) you definately need to worry. But the ER doctor will look at the EKG and blood test that he will order because of chest pain to r/o Heart disease with heart damage call Myocardial Infarction.He will also R/O causes of extra heart beats by blood test.Since you at ER you should not worry that much.

Usual: Usually starts with history taking and physical examination, chest x-ray, ekg. Depending on findings and clinical impression, further testing may be done.

See a doctor: costochondritis could be painful.
you can take long acting non narcotics medication, like celebrex (celecoxib).
you can see a pain management physician, that can perform a rib block, that will make the pain disappear for a while 
you can change you bra to a soft one and avoid the one with hard metal to it.
stay with your doctor and follow their advice.

It's hard to know: CK is an enzyme that is commonly found in different types of muscle cells.  It can be found in skeletal muscle cells - think your biceps - but also your heart muscle cells.   The CK-MB allows doctors to better determine if muscle damage is heart in origin -reassuring that was normal for you.  You may naturally have high serum levels of CK or some minor damage to the some skeletal muscle(s).

what could cause the feeling that i was short of breath, but not currently short of breath especially when i wake up? i went to the er with chest pain. tests and xrays pointed to pneumonia about 12 days ago. is this the pneumonia?

: Pneumonia can cause shortness of breath and the air ways and lung may need to heal. There are many other reasons for shortness of breath. So, in order to be firm about the issues a full evaluation would need to be done.

Not necessarily: SV="supraventricular rhythm" which is normal. 
PVCs are "extra beats" that sometimes lead to the feeling of a thump or irregular heart beat. 
By themselves, extra PVCs or couplets of PVCs are not dangerous. Some people get them when they drink caffeine or smoke cigarettes. They aren't an indicator of a heart attack, but if they happen during a heart attack, they can be a sign of impending problem

is nonspecific st changes of concern? my son recently was seen in the er for chest pain that radiated to his jaw. they did a ecg which showed nonspecific st changes and his troponion was 1.2?

: What is the normal range of the troponin level at that hospital? Different labs have different ranges &amp; different troponin tests. If his troponin was elevated and he had symptoms consistent with cardiac inflammation those EKG changes could be significant. I assume there isn't an old EKG on him for a comparison.
