Misinformed: They are uninformed, misinformed, distrustful of the medical profession or establishment, brainwashed, or any other number of reasons. It is often said that if someone doesn't like something or somebody they tell 10 people but the ones who like something or somebody may only tell one other person. Therefore the bad stuff gets exaggerated and blown out of proportion to reality.

It is true...: Too much of a good thing!.  If too much Fluoride is present in water, it can discolor the enamel with deep bluish/brownish discolorations and pits!  don't worry though as this occurs mostly with well water in rocky mountain area of the country.

Science has : Confirmed the benefit of water fluoridation in municipal systems. As little as 1 part per million, or less, has shown to be effective in helping with dental decay. The safety is also confirmed.  I support water fluoridation wholeheartedly.

Don't oppose: A small carefully controlled amount of Fluoride is added to most municipal water supplies in the usa to protect teeth against tooth decay. Despite lots of fear-mongering by anti-fluoridation groups the scientific facts are that this small amount of Fluoride causes no health problems and only protects teeth. Don' buy into mindless fear. Bottles water can also be purchased that has Fluoride added.

Absolutely: Every six months on average for most patients, unless advised otherwise by your dentist. There are lots of dental problems that continue to get worse, without pain or other symptoms until you have some big problems!

i am wondering about dental shot pain, how bad is it?

Shot pain: The dental shot for anesthesia is like a pinch
followed by pressure

what I do which I have been told works well
is to use a topical anesthetic to numb the gum
or cheek surface

then inject a small amt of anes only

wait 2 mins and then give the remainder

of the anes 

i have been told that is the least painful way to inject

overall.....Its not terrible pain no matter how it is done.

Better late now: At 37 hope no serious problems. You  should fill out forms -health history most important.X-rays and exam consultation necessary. If time a cleaning could be done.Bring insurance card.

NO: But a good practice in general to keep your teeth for life.
Some need more care, some need less.
Talk with hygienist and dentist and make a plan specific to your periodontal and chronic plaque siituation, .
