A member asked:

Hi doctors, was just wondering what is fluoride water and why we should be opposed to fluoridation?

Don't oppose: A small carefully controlled amount of Fluoride is added to most municipal water supplies in the usa to protect teeth against tooth decay. Despite lots of fear-mongering by anti-fluoridation groups the scientific facts are that this small amount of Fluoride causes no health problems and only protects teeth. Don' buy into mindless fear. Bottles water can also be purchased that has Fluoride added.

Different flourides: Sodium fluoride, first added to public drinking water in 1945, is now used in less than 10% of fluoridation systems nationwide, according to the center for disease control’s (cdc) 1992 fluoridation census. Instead, silicoflourides are now used to treat drinking water delivered to 140 million people. While sodium Fluoride was tested on animals and determined safe the other versions have by the epa.
