OM symptoms: can be variable.  Some symptoms include fullness, hearing loss, pain, ear drainage, dizziness, and fever.  Treatment of ear infections is individualized, but usually consists of some form of antibiotic.  Secondary medications may include  decongestants, mucolytics, antiinflammatories/steroids and pain medications.

Depends on variables: The fever if present should respond within 48 hrs. Other issues such as ear pressure, congestion & drainage may take longer.Fluid that builds up behind the ear drum as part of the process can remain for weeks.

Middle ear effusion: This is more likely due to inflammation and allergy than an infection, but to cover both bases, I suggest an antibiotic and strong antihistamine at bedtime for 5-10 days for relief. This should be followed by skin or blood testing to find out your allergy triggers to avoid and reduce symptoms in the future

Families share germs: After having 2-3 days of cold or flu symptoms, a person is still quite contagious. It is hard to tell when a person is not contagious, because that varies from case to case, and because the viruses decrease over a few days (they don't all die at exactly one moment in time). The safer thing to do is to avoid spreading viruses by touching others, or by sneezing or coughing on others, for a week.

: This doesn't sound like an ear infection. Most likely just a cold. But if you have such symptoms as long as 6 weeks, you should check with your doctor. Antibiotics probably are not necessary, unless in-person evaluation reveals a bacterial infection.

Doctor can examine: One's primary care doctor generally needs to examine the patient's head, neck, ears, nose, and throat to see what may be causing the symptoms. Time is of the essence whenever there is hearing loss. That is because some forms of hearing loss need urgent treatment. If the issue is an earwax problem, or a typical outer or middle ear infection, temporary hearing loss is usually not a big worry.

had an upper raspatory infection followed by a sinus infection and ear infection. my symptoms are all gone and feel great but have mucus in my throat randomly, but my throat does not hurt. the lining in throat is a little red. it has been 3 months?

: If that symptom occurs more in the morning after waking up, it is likely post nasal drainage from the sinuses although you do not have any sinus symptom. If the symptom occurs randomly throughout the day, the viral pharyngitis may not be over entirely. Patient with post covid-19 syndrome may have certain symptom(s) which last for months. Covid test is not sensitive enough to detect all cases.

: Could be lymph node if on same side as ear infection. Should go away few weeks.

Possibly: But brown discharge from the ear isn't normal. Recommend medical assessment. Take care.
