i went to hospital yesterday. the doctor told me i have an ear infection. my ear feels clogged/blocked but there is no wax. i really want to know how long will this last for. how long will this last for?

: Most are better in 1-2 weeks. Ask the Dr who has looked at you and your ear.  We have not.

my right ear feels blocked with ear wax if i use ear drops will it make eustachian tube dysfunction worse in that ear? or should i get it flushed?

What's in the ear?: The doctor will want to know what is in the ear. He has to look in the ear. Otherwise, he has to guess what's in the ear... unless another doctor just cleared out the canals. If so, it is presumed that nothing is in the ear canal. In a normal person, without a hole or a tube in the eardrum, ear drops will not go beyond the ear canal, so most drops will not directly affect the eustachian tube.

Contact ENT, MD: Usually hard to remove wax may require an ear, nose and throat doctor to complete task of removing caked ear wax. My mother-in-law recently required similar care that was quite successful.

Treat the inner ear!: Sometimes inner ear fullness can feel like obstructed canals - try to blow against a closed nose and I recommend using nasal sinus rinses like NeilMed makes.  Let me know if that helps!!

Remedies exist: If you are worried about or ears, i'd get to an ENT for a cleaning and examination asap. If its not just wax, s/he will be able to direct you on what to do next. Meanwhile, you can consider placing a few drops of unscented baby oil into your ears to soften wax. If you know you have ear tubes or holes in the eardrums, do not put anything into the ears before seeing a medical professional.

can ears take a little while to stop ringing after being blocked with wax for over 2 weeks , never no ringing before jst irrigation hasn't stopped it?

Ringing in the ears: Tinnitus is noise or ringing in the ears. There is no drug for cure. Tinnitus is not a disease, but a condition that can result from many underlying causes (e.g. TMJ). Rec.: see ENT or orofacial pain specialist to rule out secondary pathology.

hi. my ear was blocked from wax. i put waxsol in but now it's completely blocked. can i do anything to unblock it?

Doctor can help: After trying to get rid of ear wax with water or another liquid, there may be a glob of wet mushy wax that is still inside. If the mushy glob seals the canal wall-to-wall, the person's hearing gets blocked. A primary care doctor can look inside the ear canal and usually get the remaining wax out... either with a curette, or by flushing the ear with water, or with both methods.

both my wife's ears became blocked yesterday. trying to equalize isn't opening them. no apparent wax or sinus. illiadin hasn't helped. advice?

Viral infection ?: Probably experiencing viral upper and lower respiratory tract infection. You need to see a physician in person for the physical exam and treatment.
