Low: Unless you have an inherited blood disorder, history of prior dvt, or you have laid in bed or a chair for a long time, the risks of DVT after outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy would be quite low. Yes, generally DVT would have symptoms of lower leg discomfort or swelling, and "screening" is generally not done unless you have some concerning symptoms, or added risks that you have not given us.

DVT's : Dvt's are usually seen in people whom are immobile like on an airplane for several hours and or car;  it can also occur with trauma to the calf and the leg involve gets larger but should not get better musts get worse and the swelling can go up the thigh. Go see your family doctor.

ER now: your history predisposes you to DVT and possible pulmonary emboli. Get edxamined atoday with a d-dimer blood test and doppler studies.
