See below: Low calories and water will not cause diabetes. There are many underlying causes of diabetes, e.g., genetics, lack of exercise, excess weight and high carbohydrate intake. To reduce your risk of diabetes, exercise 30 minutes/day, maintain a healthy lean weight and get your fasting blood sugar tested in consultation with your doctor.

Maybe: While the presence of sugar in urine can be a sign of diabetes, in pregnancy it's often due to recent intake of sugar containing or high carbohydrate food.  The resulting spike in blood sugar often spills into the urine.  Nevertheless it's good to be checked earlier for gestational diabetes if this recurs.

Go to L&D!: Your preferred mode of delivery has no relevance when your fetus´ life is at stake! you must be delivered asap so go to your maternity hospital and call for your obstetrician to meet you on l&d today! having carried this baby around for 9 months, I am certain you do not want to cause it any harm now. I hope you get your wish for a vaginal delivery but the important is  maternal-neonatal health!

my vitamin b12 is elevated- 1327 pg/ml and a year ago it was also high, at 1269, and i only take prenatal vitamins, sertraline, and levothyroxine. i just gave birth 3 months ago and do not have diabetes. could it be cancer? im 29 years old?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, B 12 is some times elevated with inflammation, but B12 itself is not harmful. It is not a sign of cancer.   Wish you good health!

i take metformin and spironolactone (for pcos not diabetes or heart issues), omeprazole, and a prenatal vitamin. i am also taking claritin and mucinex for a cold.  can i also use afrin for nasal congestion?

Need lab test: Fingerstick sugars done with glucose monitors are meant to be used by diabetics to monitor their blood sugars.  They should not be used to diagnose diabetes as they are not accurate enough.  A fasting sugar done by a lab above 125 is considered diabetic, normal is under 100, impaired glucose tolerance is between 100 and 125.

Diabetes in the USA: Regrettably increasing almost daily. There are many reasons, not the least of which is underlying obesity, lack of work options, good foods too expensive, limited exercise, .. The problem keeps growing.

Diabetes: My answer would be controlled or not. Type 1 or 2 if managed well and treated can still maintain good immunity. If either are out of control then infections of any type more likely.

Frequent Urination: Infection or diabetes. Uncontrolled diabetes elevates both the blood and urine sugar level causing an increase in urine water to flush out the sugar. It is a sign of very poor health.
