i'm 36 weeks pregnant and i just listened to my babies heartrste on the packet fetal doppler i have at home and it read 194. should i be concerned?

Heart beat accelerat: When the baby moves at this point of the pregnancy, the heart rate goes up. This is called an acceleration and is a good thing. It should settle back down soon afterwards to the normal range. If it stays elevated and you are having pain or fever, you should contact your OB right away.

Safe: Fetal doppler is very similar to ultrasound. You can't harm baby with ultrasound or doppler.

im almost 14 weeks with twins and bought a home doppler. its become so easy to find babies heart beats. lately ive been listening to them for about a minute or 2 everyday to help with my horrible anxiety. can this harm them in anyway or is it safe?

Go Easy: As long as you don't use a fetal doppler too often, the device should be perfectly safe. Limit your use to once every other day for about 5 minutes.

Could be normal : Usually by 12 weeks fhts are heard on fetal doppler. If only a few seconds were tried, it wasn't a very dedicated attempt at listening. It's important to hear fhts both to document a live & healthy fetus and to reassure both mom & OB that all is well. If you have no cramps or bleeding & a nl us @ 8 weeks, you're prob ok. It would have been better though if your OB had let you hear or see the fhr.

Imaging body parts: Ultrasound study of fetus during pregnancy is done to identify the sex, the number, possible defects.   Doppler studies of a baby/person is performed looking for abnormalities in parts of the body.  It is a painless study.

Diastolic dysfxn: LAVI references left atrial volume, indexed to body surface area. A value of 47 suggests the chamber is larger than normal, and likely related to elevation of pressures in that chamber. This is called diastolic dysfunction, and suggests your heart may be stiff from potential common underlying issues, such as hypertension or aging. It may be asymptomatic and may not cause long-term issues.
