Ultrasound study: The use of the doppler effect is applied to obtain images of the body. A sound wave probe emits a high frequency signal which is then transmitted through coupling gel at the skin level into the body, and the sound waves return to the probe, are analyzed and portrayed as an image on a screen. This can be done in any part of the body, including blood vessels, soft tissue parts, and it is painless.
