Not expected: Actually cream tends to soothe the ulcer pain temporarily but does slow down your stomach emptying and thus may worsen your symptoms if you have reflux problem. You need to see a doctor see most ulcers can be permanently cured by a short course of medications if caused by a bacterium called h pylori.

: Discomfort in the midline of the upper abdomen relieved by eating is a characteristic of benign ulcers of the stomach or duodenum.Malignant ulcers in the stomach are often aggravated by eating. : How long do you have the symptoms. Is there any nausea/vomiting.Any heart burn? Do  you still have the gall bladder. Does the pain go the back.Is it continuous or intermittent . It is good to be examined by your PCP to come to a diagnosis . There are few other possibilities other than stomach and duodenum as the cause of the pain. Need to r/o problems from gall bladder,liver,heart,pancreas ,colon.

Must be seen by MD: Could be infected, need oral or even IV antibiotics.

Depends: If the wound is clean i would use a collagen dressing of some sort. If you need a cream i would try medihoney gel or santyl. Both of these medications can help keep the wounds clean.

: Have you been in poison ivy or oak?  Google and look at images. Dermatology is 99% looking.

Salt water rinse: I don't think bonjela is available in the us. There are different causes for ulcers but my first choice for an undiagnosed ulcer would be salt water rinses.

Depends on cause: Leg ulcers due to arterial disease (blocked artery to leg) the block in the artery must be treated first.  If the ulcer is due to venous disease, pressure bandages and elevating the leg as much as possible.  In either case the terrasil is of minimal use.

Important to treat: I would recommend she talk to her doctor to discuss alternatives.  There are a variety of treatments for venous stasis ulcers.  What is important, is that she treat it aggressively.  Dr l.
