Toys, contaminated with saliva need to be cleaned. Children with fever and mouth sores should be excluded from daycare. 24 hours after the fever is gone it is reasonable to allow the child back into daycare.

: The general rule for school age kids is to keep them out until the fever is gone and there are no evident mouth sores. The virus continues to remain in their poop but that is mainly an issue in day care centers where diaper changes can lead to cross contamination.
