why would 35 y/o male,always thin, healthy, exerciser, good eater get minor ruq discomfort for 9 months,never gets worse,no effect from foods,never smoked/drank! scared to go to dr,scared it's liver from covid vax 1 year ago,feel perfect otherwise?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily.: Urinalysis will determine if there is an abnormality with the urine.  Dark colored urine can range from drinking low amounts of fluids, having blood in it, having bilirubin in it, or others, none of which is specific for liver function.

can your liver cause pain? if so is there a cure to stop the pain? what cause hemangionomas in the liver and are they dangerous? im scared cause i don't want my liver to fail. i was never a drinker or drug user so why does the liver get attacked if you do

Liver pain.: Yes, problems with your liver can cause pain - stretching of the capsule surrounding the liver from inflammation is an example.  Liver hemangiomas (can also cause pain, but many of them cause no symptoms.  In cases where the pain is directly attributable to  the hemangioma, surgical removal can be considered.  They're definitely not a common cause of liver failure, however.

Weight loss.: The treatment of fatty liver disease is losing weight. I would avoid carbohydrates and foods high in fat content. Trying to get more vegetables in your diet. Calorie restriction is necessary along with lifestyle changes. Fatty liver improves with weight loss.Don't be afraid to eat just don't eat the wrong foods.Try to keep your calories restricted. Increase physical activity.

Abnormal Liver test: If you are truly having nafld, liver associated enzymes can be fluctuated.  However, make sure you have thorough liver work up to assure you do not have other liver diseases, specifically viral hepatitis.

im (19f, 115 pounds) nervous about liver problems. last year i drank more but this year now abide by low risk limits, but occasionally i get a minor dull pain in my upper right quadrant that quickly goes away. no other symptoms. should i be scared?

Cysts usually benign: Given the duration, presumably imaged 15 yrs ago, it is likely a benign liver cyst. But given you have some liver tissue conditions, like fatty liver and lupus, an evaluation for other concerns from a gastroenterologist may be useful, especially if you are symptomatic now. The other issue is being scared without action, and consultation directly With your primary doctor may be in order.

No,: Fatty liver is typically painless. Losing weight should help, no matter what. Sometimes you will develop gallstones when losing weight. This would cause the right side pain.

Not necessarily: The cause of RUQ pain can be numerous, gallstones, peptic ulcer disease, liver problems including masses, colitis, pancreas and esophageal disorders may also present.  Autoimmune hepatitis does not usually cause liver pain, the pain from a biopsy is due to irritation of the surface of the liver and musculoskeletal pain from the needle.  Need more testing, including liver function tests and imaging.

i went to the doctor today he said i had a test come back that said i had elevated liver. what could this mean. i'm kinda scared cause i was addicted?

Liver Damage: Elevated liver tests mean that the liver is under stress or strain. This usually happens with exposure to too many medications, too much tylenol (acetaminophen) or Acetaminophen or too much alcohol. 

If your addiction was alcohol the longer you stay sober the better your liver has a chance to recover and heal.
